I regret attempting this.
The electrical connection for the crankshaft position sensor is above far above the crank, far below the intake, and tucked under the flare of cam... block... thingie.
Well, back to work...

Is that the latest culprit?

God's speed. I wouldn't do that

That is decidedly unfun.

I’ve always been afraid of the crank and cam position sensors. I once sold a car rather than fix it (‘95 Buick Century with electrical gremlins). It’s been real

I remember having a CPS issue in my C43 AMG - never technically stranded me, but once at a gas station, it took around 25 turns of the key to get it started. Didn’t fix it myself though, not an uncommon fail point on the cars - off to the indy shop it went. I’d probably do the same in this case, I hope someone appreciates your dedication.

On a positive note, it looks like you're running a Napa gold oil filter, good on you mate.

Thats the Paseo, right?
“might” help a little bit if you remove the alternator.

There is a way around the block thingie. Come at it from the left of the doodad and work you way around the whatchamacallit.
There is no easy way to get to that connection. It wasn’t meant to be serviced without some disassembly .

Your pinchers should be able to get right in there no other tools needed.

The release is on the opposite side, I can't reach it from any direction with pinchers

That’s brutal! I feel you on mechanical failures though as I spent the evening tearing apart the drivers suspension to replace a front axle but the part I have isn’t the same as what’s in there.
It’s serviceable though so I’ll slap a new boot on it and put it back together. Tools and parts are strewn about my driveway now...

Even better and as you probably know, they make the Napa gold filters.
